Crowcombe Court

Crowcombe Court, Somerset.

This week, I was lucky enough to visit Crowcombe Court.

I was spoilt on Tuesday, as the sun was shining, the sky was blue, and the birds were singing, it felt like a true spring day, there was a glimmer of summer. It felt like a great day for a wedding. As I drove into the long drive way, the house can be seen straight ahead, the house is even more impressive to see in real life.

Crowcombe Court is a beautiful Grade I listed building in the village of Crowcombe, which is located in the Quantock Hills, approximately 8 miles from the County town of Taunton, Somerset.

Crowcombe Court dates back to the 17th Century, over the years it has been a school and a nursing home. Sadly the house fell into disrepair, fortunately the previous owners brought the property back to life. The current owners purchased Crowcombe Court in 2019 and welcome couples to host their weddings at the house.

I met with Bryony, who is one of Crowcombe Court's 5 wedding Consultants. Bryony gave me what felt like a magical tour, I can only imagine how much more exciting it must feel if you are viewing as a couple looking for your perfect venue. (FYI - my pictures do not do Crowcombe Court any justice - it's my aim to learn to use the features on my phone and learn to take much better pictures over time).

From the front doors you enter directly in to he Great Hall, this room is truly stunning in so many ways, from the floor, the the high ceilings, the large windows, with huge mirrors on the back walls, the huge fireplace, the details and so much more, the room feels truly special, it also has a nice calm feel.

The Grand Hall can accommodate 100 guests for a civil ceremony.

Crowcombe Court has a second smaller room, called the Carew Room, this is available for civil ceremonies to take place, this room is ideal for smaller more intimate or micro weddings.

Crowcombe Court also welcomes couples who want to elope, the wedding consultants will happily be your witnesses.

Crowcombe Court also has a licensed outdoor area to hold ceremonies. To the left side of the house on the perfectly maintained lawn is a bandstand, if the weather is kind, you can get married outside, safe in the knowledge you can marry inside in an equally stunning location if the weather didn't get the memo!

The Victorian Ballroom is where up to 100 of your guests will dine. On Tuesday the room was set up for a more intimate wedding, the linen was fresh and bright, the glassware and cutlery was super shiny, not a water mark in sight (again my pictures do not do this beautiful room justice).

Crowcombe Court's wedding consultants will help you with your table configurations, and table placings, they and guide you according to yours and your guests needs. The large doors open to an adjoining room, if you have lots of children attending, this could be a great area for them all to reunite.

If you choose, you can have your cake placed on the round table under the second chandelier in the adjoining room - more great photo moments.

Again, this room is beautifully decorated with lots of original features, the high ceilings, large windows and doors make it light and airy. On warm summer's day the doors and windows can all be opened.

In the evening your guests move downstairs into the vaulted under croft, this was historically the houses store. It has since been transformed into a funky space for an evening reception, fairy lights wrap around the pillars, there is also a fairy light curtain backdrop. A stage has been installed for bands and a DJ to party the night away. The evening reception can accommodate up to 150 guests.

Along side the under croft is a fully stocked bar and with the most inviting sofas, it has a sophisticated bar vibe.

The bar closes at midnight, however an extension is available at an additional cost.

The house also boasts a separate lounge area, with several large comfy sofas and chairs with a TV, which is idea for younger and older guests alike.

On the ground floor is the Get Ready Room, this beautiful, modern, light and airy so much thought has gone into designing this room. It is immaculate in every way. There is with plenty of space for your bridal party to get ready together with a large hair and make up station, the plug sockets even have USB chargers built in.

The staircase is beautiful, one or both of you can walk down the stairs to get married and have that moment. Crowcombe Court will accommodate your wedding entrance however you wish.

Finally the bridal suite - another WOW moment, another immaculate room. The carpet is brand new, its soft and squishy, you feel like you're sinking into it, the lined is super fresh and crisp. Everything about the bridal suite and it's en-suite is simply beautiful. The room over looks the front of the house.

Crowcombe Court can accommodate guests, overall there is 22 bedrooms are available between the main house and apartments, all are individual and unique.

Bryony was the most accommodating host, she clearly loves her job (who wouldn't?) Bryony was so knowledgeable about every aspect of the house, there wasn't really anything that couldn't be done.

Crowcombe Court do have a list of trusted suppliers who can assist with photography, flowers, cakes, decor - the list is endless, however you are not committed to any particular supplier, you are free to have who you like.

Crowcombe Court is also dog friendly, they have 2 bedrooms that can accommodate dogs - a puppy contract will need to be undertaken.

Crowcombe Court is an all inclusive venue, they welcome same sex marriages.

Weekday weddings are also available - prices for 2022 start from £4500.

Overall what was apparent is that Crowcombe Court go above and beyond for their guests, if they can make it happen, they will. The testimonies speak for themselves. It is clear to see why Crowcombe Court is such a popular choice for couples.
